The Forge.

I was watching a fantastic new series on the History Channel last night called "Warriors" - in which the Green Beret (with significant combat experience) takes the audience deep into the heart of different warrior cultures: their formation, weapons, unique cultural mindset and fighting styles, strategies, and shows how it all culminated in one of their most famous battles.

Last night he was doing Scotland and the battle at Sterling Bridge (William Walllace). The host was working with a blacksmith in constructing a scottish sword. The smith would heat, shape, cool, reheat, etc... the blade until he had taken this steel bar and turned it into a beautifully balanced work of art and deadly weapon.

God is a blacksmith in many ways. He fires us in the trials of life; gently shapes us (the smith in the show emphasiszed the delicacy of the hammering and how the steel will "rememeber every strike") with different people, situations, experiences in prayer, successes and joys etc... Then he "cools us off" (which makes the steel very brittle- until it is reheated again) and shows us our weaknesses that we still have.

In your struggles- BE GRATEFUL! God is showing you your weaknesses- and where you need to still allow him into your life and heart.
