Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel!

Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel...one of my most beloved feast days! I've worn my scapular for years and years- and it's one of my great consolations and reminders of Mary and God's love and companionship with me.

Carmel means "Garden of God" and I often think of (based on a sermon by Father Corapi on this topic) Mary's Immaculate Heart as the true CARMEL, the new Eden- the new Garden of God.

I alsoo like the line used in the investisure rite for the brown scapular that our priest uses- it quotes the nativity verse; "and she wrapped him in swaddling clothes and layed him in a manger." I see my scapular as my sonship to Our Lady- she has wrapped me in her swaddling clothes as well and layed me next to her Son.
